For premier real time access controls, the
MAG5
Series provides a sophisticated, secure and flexible solution to your access
control and security problems. This series of controllers are very flexible in
that they can operate with a variety of card readers or by pin mode only. The
controller can either be on a stand-alone basis operating a single door or can
be linked to a number of controllers for a multi-door configuration via a
computer. The controller is Year 2000 compliant. The controller is enclosed in a
metal casing.
Wide Range of Readers
The MAG5 Series features a microprocessor controller on the secure side of
the door with programming accomplished from either a keypad or computer.
Opening a door can be accomplished by a Scrambling Keypad, a Standard
Keypad, a Bar Code reader, a Magnetic Card reader, a Proximity reader, a
Smart Card reader or a Touch Entry reader. The accepted formats for the
Magnetic Card readers are Single Track ABA and Dual Tracks (Tracks 2 & 3).
It also supports a wide range of Proximity readers. On the pin entry mode,
it supports six digit pin entries over a standard or scrambling keypad. It
can also operate on a card + pin mode. Exiting devices can be a second
reader, push button and push bar.
Level of Security
Various level of security can be set with the MAG5 Series controller.
There are 9 levels of access controls with 24 user definable timers.
Security can be further enhanced by activating the holiday features (20
days) and 10 access time zones. The MAG5 Series comes with 4 alarm
monitoring points. These are supervised points with three possible states,
normal, alarm and fault. Arming and disarming these alarm points can be
done from the computer, with and ID / Pin or Card / Pin. No special card
is needed. Any ID or Badge can be designated to be the alarm
administrator. The controller has its own tamper switch to prevent
unauthorized dismantling of the device.

Large Memory
With the on board microprocessor and a large memory, data can be stored,
retrieved and processed when required. The MAG5 Series can hold 2000 cards
and 2000 transactions in its data base. It has its own battery to backup
its parameters in the RAM during a power failure. The MAG5 Series
controller can be linked by a current loop multi-drop, RS232, RS422, RS485
or Fiber Optics to a computer for increased flexibility and functionality,
which comes with the Micro Plus software and our Security Dynamics System.
Online Configuration
The MAG5 Series communicates to the computer using RS232, RS422, or RS
485. On a network configuration, a total of 16 numbers of MAG5 Series
controllers can be linked to a single bus. Each of these controllers can
use a variety of card technologies and have built-in alarm inputs. Using
Micro Plus access control software, these controllers can be monitored
from remote locations using LAN, modems or leased lines (dedicated). It
can be configured for the equipment to be online in real time basis or for
working offline. Reports from data bases can be generated to suit
individual need.
Power Supply
The MAG5 Series comes equipped with its own power supply. It can be
connected to a UPS and a 7AH battery. This allows the controller to
continue to function during a power breakdown. It consumes approximately
200mA (max). With a fail secure mode (power to unlock) the UPS have 7
hours of back up time.
